How can I become a Language Jeenie?

1. Register in our recruitment system here
2. Watch the Welcome Video, then click on the applicable posting for spoken language VRI/OPI or ASL.
   • If you are a spoken language and ASL interpreter, please chose ASL. 
3. Fill out the application.
4. Follow all the steps in the Welcome Email.

What are the minimum requirements to be a Language Jeenie?

• You must be 18 years of age or older.
• Native proficiency in at least 2 languages
• Service-oriented, friendly, and professional demeanor
• A passion for helping others
• Good internet connectivity
• A smartphone or laptop with data plan
• A quiet, private workspace for confidential calls

Do I need any particular experience or expertise to be a Language Jeenie?

Language Jeenies are multilingual individuals who have acquired language skills in various ways: by birth and upbringing, by family or heritage, by education and training, and more. Your language skills in both your Native and Secondary languages should be such that you are comfortable in most situations and topics. 

• 3+ years as a medical interpreter
• Medical Interpreting certification (if applicable)
• HIPAA certification or training
• HIPAA policy compliance
• NCIHC National Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics compliance
• Individual Business Associate Agreement compliance
• Healthcare domain knowledge: degrees, work, significant studies
• NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct compliance (applicable only for American Sign Language)

How can I discontinue working as a Language Jeenie?

If you do not want to be called for any Jeenie engagements, simply set your availability in the Jeenie app to OFF. You can always restart working as a Language Jeenie by setting your availability to ON again.
