Accepting a Zoom Call February 07, 2024 23:58 Updated IMPORTANT NOTES!! IF YOU DO NOT LAUNCH THE 'JEENIE INTERPRETING APP' IN ZOOM ONCE YOU ACCEPT THE CALL AND OPEN ZOOM, WE CANNOT VALIDATE HOW LONG YOU WERE CONNECTED AND COULD IMPACT YOUR EARNED FEES. (Explained in Step 5) YOU MUST BE LOGGED INTO THE ZOOM APP, NOT ZOOM THROUGH YOUR BROWSER! You must be logged in to the Jeenie Interpreting App in Zoom to receive Zoom-based calls. We recommend logging in when you go available in the Jeenie app. When the call comes in, the screen will show you it is through Zoom. Please accept the call, as usual, knowing that you will be taken to a Zoom room. Depending on your browser, you will most likely get a pop-up on a new window asking you for permission to open Zoom. Click on the option that says “Open zoom.us” For expediency, we recommend checking the box that says always allow. Going forward, your system should skip this extra verification. The Zoom room will open up. Depending on the customer’s setup you will either Be taken to a waiting room until the host lets you in. This usually takes a few seconds. Go into the Zoom meeting without going through the waiting room. When you enter the meeting, please make sure to test your audio and have the video turned on. The camera must be turned on unless the client asks that we turn it off. If the camera is not turned on at the beginning of the meeting, you can change this by using the controls at the bottom left of the screen. NOTE: The client will be able to hear and see you at this point! They are asked to wait for you to be ready. You are not being paid until you go through Step #5!! Do not start interpreting until you have completed Step #5. If the client begins to speak to you, please advise them that you are not fully connected and you will assist them shortly. You must launch the Jeenie Interpreting App from Zoom. If you skip this step, we cannot validate that you joined the session and you will not be paid for the call. Click on Apps You should see Jeenie Interpreting (if you don't, search for Jeenie) Click Open Log in (if asked) You begin earning fees once you see the app say 'Connected' Keep the Jeenie Interpreting App open in Zoom the entire session as this will show if you are earning fees. Introduce yourself to the participants, following our expected Jeenie introduction instructions Interpret as you usually do. There are multiple ways a client can end the session. It's the linguist's responsibility to leave the session once the client has ended the Jeenie session to ensure they are not interpreting without earning fees. The client can end the session from their Jeenie App within Zoom. The Jeenie Interpreting App will advise you that your session has ended. The client has the option to remove the interpreter from the room and that ends the call. On the linguist’s end, we can leave the room if the session is over. After the session is over, you will see the minutes reflected in your history. If an extra window has opened up in your browser to launch Zoom, please close it.
